Dear Brothers and Sisters:
At this time, no one knows how severe the COVID-19 outbreak will be. The Union leadership is in direct communication with our represented companies to address the health concerns associated with COVID-19 as it affects the daily business operations that our members support. Given this uncertainty and the fact that the seasonal influenza (flu) virus is also widespread, you should take proactive steps to address several concerns. First and foremost, the first goal of everyone is the health of our members and to limit the spread of this virus.
As this virus develops and more information is available, there will be more changes. The Union and the Company are working together to address and support those needs. The Union is aware that there are a lot of questions on how these changes may affect the rules in our contract. This is a unique situation, and the Union is asking our members to be flexible with changes as they develop. The Union and the Company will work through these issues as they arise.
We ask all of our members to cooperate in taking steps to reduce the transmission of communicable diseases in the workplace.
• Stay home when you are sick. Make sure you notify the Company if you are ill and staying home. • Wash your hands frequently with warm, soapy water for at least 20 seconds. • Cover your mouth with tissues whenever you sneeze, and discard used tissues in the trash. • Avoid people who are sick with respiratory symptoms. • Clean frequently touched surfaces
Our goal is to address issues and concerns as we become aware of them. As we go through this unique situation and unknown challenges, we are committed to keeping the channels of communication open.
Fraternally
